Everyone keeps saying this virtual learning thing is new territory, and in some ways it is, but artists learn and create everywhere. The world is our classroom. Inspiration is all around us. To create, we just need time to slow down, think, reflect and express our thoughts and ideas. This time is perfect! With all of the difficult emotions...confusion, worry, loneliness, sadness, fear...Art gives us an outlet to express all feelings.
Of course, we need art supplies to create, right? What if we don't have art supplies at home? How can we create without art supplies? Think about how cave paintings were created in pre-historic times. Today, there are artists making masterpieces from what they find in nature. Some create with trash from the ocean. Let's think about art supplies in a new way to make art accessible for all! I love to share this TED Talk by artist, Phil Hansen, with my students. It's about thinking "outside of the box" when it comes to art materials. Let me know what non-art material you could use to make art in the comments.

I would use slime. Not by sculpting something, but by putting the slime on the paper and let the pigment of the slime seep onto the paper to create art. The TED EX talk was really cool and interesting.
